Consider the Work of God...

Ecclesiastes 7:13-14 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked? (14) In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also hath set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.

This watercolor painting is called "Day Is Done."  While I was going through my art and photos, I came across my painting and thought...this painting was painted with peace in mind...a good feeling of accomplishment, yet tired, the Amish father walks with his young son in the final light of the day with a sense of joy, which he shares with his young one, guiding and teaching him the value of a good hardworking day and demonstrating some of the values needed for growing into a  man who serves the Lord.  Whether prosperity or adversity, find a sense of joy in both...our God is in control.

Ecclesiastes is a very good book to read in the Bible.  The word "Ecclesiastes" means "preacher" which also means "teacher."  King Solomon wrote this book with "teaching" in mind.  If you get a chance, take a look at some of the words of wisdom he writes about in this book.

  1. I'm glad ou used some verses from Ecclesiastes on your blog... It is one of my favorite books. It is like a diary King Solomon wrote explaining what he experienced in His search for a fulfilling life. Unfortunately, he didn't find the true source of happiness until he was near the end of his life. The satisfaction your painting pictures is the same typoe of satisfaction we all can have if we know we are living in God's will and accomplishing what He desires for us. Thank you for the wonderful painting and lesson... it is a real inspiration!

  2. The picture speaks to me how finite we really are and the time we have with the works of our hands. The sun that rose from when we entered into this world will be the same sun that will set when we part this world. We are like vapors that will suddenly vanish away. There is nothing we can add or take away in life that is not already part of God’s plan for us. He knew us by name before we were even born and even our hair is numbered. God sees the end from the beginning; He is the Alpha and the Omega. We are totally in awe of who God is and all of His creation. God is in control.
